sarah 2001

i glanced over and noticed the thick heavy case that i hadn't touched in years . . . i have been shooting for so long now that i don't even remember some of the images that i have taken.

in 2001 i was working at pier 1 imports and a fellow employee asked me to shoot all the B&W at her wedding (i did photography on the side).
weird to think that people actually hired someone just to shoot B&W FILM.
weird to think that someone actually hired me in 2001 . . . i was 17 when i shot this wedding.
in that thick heavy case the first disc i have is of sarahs wedding. a bunch of 35mm scanned onto a disc.
i no longer know where she lives, her married name, what she is doing for work, how many kids she may or may not have.

but i can look at these images and it takes me right back to that very moment she was married. the moments she was laughing. the moment she said "i do." the brief moment when i was apart of her life.

dear sarah.
i hope you find yourself happy and well today. i want to thank you for letting me be a part of your day. for trusting me as your photographer. for believing in me as such a young photographer. your images are just as beautiful today as they were in 2001.

its strange in a way that i hold some of the fondest memories for people in a simple black case.

i miss shooting in ALL film. maybe i should go back to that. the excitement and wonder.

i love film.

i love being a part of peoples life, even if its just for a brief moment.
i will continue to take pictures forever and always . . . and the best part about that is . . . . . .
the people i get to meet and work with.
the friendships that form.
the moments i capture.

have you shot film lately?
remember when that was your only option?

hmm
