shutterfly's wedding trend survey

i found some interesting information on shutterfly . . .

i hear so often people that have decided to go with uncle joe for their wedding pictures because he owns a "camera." the other thing i hear all to often, those people complaining and wishing that they would have just spent their money on a photographer.

findings from Shutterfly's Wedding Trend Survey revealed:

  • Should've spent less on the dress; more on the memories. Of survey respondents married within 12 months prior to the survey, 28 percent felt they didn't spend enough money on the honeymoon; 22 percent felt the same about the photographer. 19 percent of the same sample reported spending too much on the bridal gown and food.
  • The old adage: "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride" might not be true. Shutterfly's survey revealed that a third of respondents had been a maid of honor at least once in the past; 37 percent of those brides have been a maid of honor more than once.
  • Blue is the color of the season. Twenty-seven percent of engaged brides listed blue as their primary wedding hue. Other hot schemes were black and white (24 percent); purple (19 percent) and red (17 percent).

brides: its important to have a photographer you can trust on the day of your wedding who has a lot of experience and offers high quality products. i really think brides should be interviewing their photographer. yes choose the photographer because you like there work, but choose 3 or 4 and then ask them lots of questions before you pick. don't make it ONLY about money.

?'s to ask:
what training do you have with photography?
where do you order your prints/products?
if i wanted film could you shoot it?
do you have a business license?
do you charge sales tax? (this is legit!)
am i going to get a disc of all the images?
what does your contact cover?
how many years have you been shooting?
how many weddings have you shot?
